NECK PAIN

Neck pain is a very common problem with many possible causes. Things that can contribute to neck pain include poor posture, hunching over a computer, stress, whiplash and muscular strains from simple things like sleeping wrong or reading in bed. When neck muscles become tired and strained, pain is usually the first symptom.

The head is a large and heavy part of your body, which your neck is responsible for moving as well as holding upright. Your neck and shoulders work hard. Even the smallest changes in the joints and muscles of your neck can cause decreased range of motion and pain.

Chiropractic care is great at treating neck pain. It can help restore healthy function to your neck by treating the structures in your neck to get you moving again! This is accomplished by using strategies like soft tissue therapy, adjustments, mobilizations as well as numerous stretches and exercises. Things like taking breaks throughout the day to relax overworked muscles, changing your pillow or adjusting your workstation may be changes that are recommended to help relieve your neck pain.

In rare cases, neck pain can be a sign of something serious. Seek immediate attention and tell your chiropractor if your neck pain is accompanied by severe headache, shooting
pain in your shoulder or arm, numbness or loss of strength in your arms or hands, trouble speaking, swallowing or walking, blurred vision or loss of balance.
